Derrick Williams
My Perspective

Black and White…a visual misconception? Scientifically they have nothing to do with physical color; they’re actually the lack of. Realistically speaking the “colors” black and white are more like depths of field in the world of photography, geometry and the universe etc; they are considered “opposites” that give life and form to actual colors…red, blue, yellow, green etc. Funny huh – from the birth of man these two “backgrounds” of the spectrum have created landslides of positive and negative social commentary worldwide. These “non-colors” are responsible for moments of change in political history, breaking the boundaries of education, voting, employment, segregation, peace and war; the list goes on and on …not too bad for being in the background! Is it the colors or is it just man??

Opposites, a powerful word when used in a certain light. Straight or Gay, Good or Evil, Ying and Yang. The list is long; we as people are opposite, but we all balance each other out. Just like the sun and the moon, Earth and Mars, land and sea…what happens if you remove one of these forces or heavenly bodies, well the other will go haywire and man probably wouldn’t survive.

We have to bring some gray into our lives, a happy medium where color doesn’t play a role. It’s the point you dangle on when you are just happy to be, when you can put all things aside …race, politics, religion and daily grinds. When you can sit quietly and read or walk your dog in peace. It’s that drive up the coast or watching your children at play…its middle ground. It’s harmonic and waltzing, smooth and slow in time…I love living in they gray, I think it’ll add more years to my life…find your peace my friend.

An associate wrote this to me
“you need a muse and inspiration will follow and bloom”

I thought I had one but she became camera shy.
The creative part cries out in silence but yet some can hear it.
Frustrating as I want to feed it and therefore not let it die within.
I do not want yet another corpse held down by remorse within me.
I feed it what I can and promise that every day I awake I will bring it something even if just a taste.
I feel I cannot even give away my images for those that do not want me to even have their number/email.
How can I give away a part of me to someone that does not even trust me?
My art is a child of my soul!
How can I cast them/it into hand too cold to hold another person’s art with any value but free?
Thank you for all the kind words, Kim.
I can be intense or so it seems but when I am quiet ‘they’ ask why but when I speak they do not listen.
So that is why I cry in silence and my dreams turn to taciturn reflections off a broken mirror.

I take comfort in your words and also look forward to being next to you.
When my Soul was wandering in an endless catacomb under timber still smoldering from the wreckage of a place I once called home.
You reached in and offered me hand without a glance of the broken man.
You saw my spirit without seeing my face.
Rough hewn timbers laden with lies and yet you reach in and removed them with Love and understanding.
Sometimes I kept my head bowed in prayer and others in despair as tears jumped off my face as I felt less than waste.
Slowly I turned to the voice and craned my head to the Light in your eyes and the blue sky above my storm.
Yet having nothing than words and a deep spirit you guided me on a sea of Hope to Island that is our own.
Holding you close in my arms with your head canted that lower lip in my mouth as I gently pull on it.
I see the pulsing blood/Love that sustains our bodies and Spirits with every heartbeat.

Another miraculous sunset except I stand on this rock alone watching someone else go home.

FYI I just spent some quality time with The Dashboard (cue the music!)
Please there is no reason not even to ‘gift’ the image to a client to upload a 45 megabyte image.
There were several on one page.
That just slows you blog and some will wonder to ADHD land.
I first copy the icky (yeah, I use icky and what of it?) code that wordpress spews.
I prefer NOT to link to a larger image.
I upload the size that I want to and that is the end of it.(off to your room, in my best Daddy voice)
I had to click on each to make humongous and then drag onto my desk top from I dragged (I stopped the drugs, that explains things) into PS and did a quick change from adobe 1998 to srgb and a cmnd option i to bring up the image size (all about the size) but this time I was making it smaller.
I chose 900 for the landscape and 700 for the vertical.
My reasons (most are unreasonable with an untenable deposition)
Most blogs are set for 900 and 1024 is the size of the monitors that widely used (legacy era)
Now allow for some padding (don’t hate, I need to workout) and margins.
The vertical is the most browsers allow 680 depending on how many ‘things’ are sitting under the url window.
From 45 mg to 1.5mb is a huge savings.
I saved them between 8-10 if I gad at 5-7 more saving in size.
I could have stripped them of all their exif also but chose to leave them alone.
One of the pixels was Lawyering and calling the PS-Po-Po on me.
Trumped up charges that I was pushing it around and it had diminished capacities now, pish posh.
That pixel had it coming I tells ya!
Breathe Rasta Rican breathe, I did inhale while breathing officer krupke.
I need a nap Who’s down for some OPP?
